Dear Antioch Community,

This is a letter to everyone from Beca and Tim. We have both recently returned from the New Mexico Co-op “Community”. Two of our classmates are being expelled for events that occurred throughout this co-op “community” experience. As we were both present throughout this entire ordeal and had a close connection with both students, we felt we should share what we witnessed, and why we feel these expulsions are unjust. Womyn Center Mural Painting Party

All femaleidentified community members are invited to a MURAL PAINTING PARTY , Friday, January 26th, anytime between 7-11pm in and outside the Womyn Center.

Coordinators Erin, Mariel and Anne plan the mural to be compromised of dozens of individual or group designed 15’’x 7.5’’ bricks composed with the theme of womyn and womynhood in mind .

Bring your ideas, drawings , and supplies (if you have them; if not, supplies will be provided).

Get ready for estrogen and creativity, coming together in an explosion of colorful expression of how we interpret our genders.

To My Beloved Community,

Here at The Antioch Record we have all
worked through sleepless nights and blurry
days to produce an assortment of articles that
will hopefully encompass the values, concerns
and spirit of the community. But, to make this
truly a COMMUNITY publication we are in
need of input for the entire community (this
means you staff and faculty). There are a lot of
tough issues we are trying to sort out with sour
or minimal conversation between different
sections of campus. I propose that we utilize
The Record to voice our thoughts and opinions
in a transparent, positive forum to work towards
fi nding a middle ground. In order to have the
ideal Antioch Community we always speak
of, we must fi rst start acting like a community
in general, which means equal participation.
Seriously, do we all enjoy running around
being angry with each other all the time? I
hope not. If we cannot speak constructively of
these confl icts then we surly cannot solve them.
Lets all talk, learn from each other, and save
Antioch for the love of god!

Conference in Review: Democracy School, or: How to Make an Authentic Democracy with Your Bare Hands

Twelve men and women met two weekends ago in the basement of Spalt to learn how to make a better democracy. It was the 105th Democracy School— an educational program created by the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (CELDF), author and legal historian Richard Grossman, co-founder of the Program on Corporations, Law, and Democracy.
